So I'm a Slut?

As a taxpayer, I would much rather chip in a little toward birth control pills than pay for an unwanted baby. If you can't afford contraception, how are you going to afford an abortion or afford to raise a child? The entire cost of that baby - medical, food, clothing, etc. - is going to fall on the taxpayers.

Rush Limbaugh has said that the only reason for a woman to take birth control is because she's having so much sex that she must be a slut and a prostitute. I will be boycotting every company that sponsors Rush Limbaugh. And, Rush, you need to take the same amount of birth control whether you have sex one or one hundred times. Taking the pill does not reflect poorly on me, or any woman, in any way whatsoever.

Even if you have been a fan of his, surely we can all agree that this crosses the line.

In response to criticism, Limbaugh doubled down. He offered a deal to "feminazis" who support no-cost birth control: "If we are going to pay for your contraceptives and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it... We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch."

Rush had no right to personally insult Sandra, a law student, and women everywhere. He may be known as extreme, but this goes too far.

I signed a petition with NARAL Pro-Choice America to get Rush dropped from as many local stations as possible, and I hope you sign too.

Thanks for speaking out. Don't let Rush bully women.

  1. Rush Limbaugh is known for his incendiary comments. He often exaggerates his point, because of his personality and most likely for ratings. But often, the core of his point is quite valid. So I still support him, but not someone who can't seem to understand that he doesn't actually want women to put sex videos on the internet - rather he was he was making the point that tax payers shouldn't be forced to pay for an elective medication.

  2. I agree with you 1000%. That guy is totally off the wall. It's so disconcerting that people like him are in the limelight. Susan

  5. As a tax payer I don't want to pay for any form of birth control for anyone. I shouldn't be forced to. I find it morally objectionable.

  6. Thank you for putting in to words everything that I have been thinking and wanting to say! I can't fathom why that man is allowed to continually bash people without taking a deep look at his own faults. Yuck.

Prevention is key to so many issues, and unwanted children is one of them. I have friends who feel so strongly against supporting Planned Parenthood, and yet, they want nothing to do with paying taxes to help the children that are born and in terrible need either. Hopefully someday the connection of one to the other will become clear.

  7. I have read yours, please read mine. Thanks- I am glad you and myself can voice are oppinions but I agree with Rush. Why does anyone feel they need to have sex before they get married in the first place??? Why should I have to help anyone pay for their health coverage either. I have 2 nephews and 2 neices that my adopted sister had by four different men. My parents raised 2 of them. She had the ability to have prevention and decided not to have it. So life goes on and even so people will keep having sex and expect to take a pill to not have a baby. Thanks for reading it.

  8. I appreciate your opinion, Scrapfancy. I think you are overlooking the many people who ARE married and use birth control. Rush pooled everyone together - if you take birth control, you are a slut. There are also many people who choose not to get married even though they stay with the same partner forever. If I'm married but my husband and I are barely getting by, should we be having an unwanted baby that we can't support?
