Have you heard of Amerisleep? Sexy Nerd and I finally replaced our crummy (and lumpy! and saggy!) old (but not old enough that it should need replacing) Simmons (BLECH!!!) mattress and are loving our new Amerisleep memory foam mattress.
Yeah, we have a little bitterness toward Simmons. Can you tell?
We were hesitant about ordering a mattress online without being able to test it, but were reassured by all the Amerisleep reviews I read that said they are the best mattress and by their top-notch customer service. I spent a lot of time emailing back and forth with Amerisleep representatives and they never seemed to mind my many questions. I loved how enthusiastic they were about their product.
"I look forward to hearing how much you love your new bed!!" is the email I received after placing my order. A great sign.
The following week, our Liberty bed arrived...
The box was bigger than Sexy Nerd! I do recommend this mattress. I also do recommend that you have a second person to help you move it to the bedroom.
Sexy Nerd claimed he could have moved the mattress on his own. He "just didn't want to". Yeah.
Pica was hunting the mysterious black bag in our bedroom.
It seemed wise to stop her from attacking it.
Biscuit wouldn't even enter the room!
Sexy Nerd was very careful when cutting the plastic off of our new mattress. He had to be, with yours truly jumping around and saying "Careful! Don't cut the mattress! Are you being careful? Oooooh, be careful!"
The mattress begin expanding even faster than we'd expected.
The Amerisleep mattress must be freed!
It expanded this much in about a minute.
The mattress kept growing and growing!
There was still more plastic to remove before our new mattress was ready.
At first, we were surprised by the amount of plastic. Really though, if it weren't for all that plastic, might a rogue mattress start expanding on the shipping truck?
FedEx and UPS would not be happy.

What did Pica, who was sooo excited about our new mattress, think of it? Don't know.
She isn't allowed on the bed.
Amerisleep claims their mattresses are equal to Tempur-Pedic, but for a lot less money. We have been sleeping on our new Liberty bed for several weeks now and I agree. Anyone can say their mattress is as good as Tempur-Pedic though. There seemed like there must be a way to prove this.
You know those fancy commercials where the person jumps on the Tempur-Pedic mattress and the wine glass doesn't tip over?

We are searching for a new mattress too. Have heard good things about these, but also that memory foam mattresses hold in your body heat and are HOT. Any problems with that? Also, do you have to roll it back up if/when you ever have to move it?

ReplyDeleteWicketsMom, I was worried about that too, but we have not had trouble with heat. Amerisleep advertises that their mattresses do not retain heat like the other memory foam mattresses and so far it seems to be true.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried to move it, but I suspect that we could roll it up and secure if with a few bungee cords if needed. It would certainly be easier than when we moved our crappy Simmons Beautyrest (it folded like a taco when we tried to stand it on its side!)
that is crazy how much it grew!!! i have a knock of tempur pedic too. love mine. i hope you enjoy your new bed!

That looks like way too much fun! :) We ordered our mattress online, it was a bit nerve-wracking but we've been happy with it for a few years now.
ReplyDeleteI just want you to know I completely understand the deep love you have for your new memory foam mattress - we switched about 8 months ago and it's like heaven in the form of a mattress. We also did not go with the extremely spendy tempur-pedic - and maybe I would sleep EVEN better on it, but that doesn't seem possible. I rave about my bed and people who don't sleep on foam don't understand - they just think I'm weird. Which I am, but not because of my bed - it is THAT awesome.

But the tempur pedic stayed behind with my ex -who had room for a king size set. Fast forward 3 years-Got a new hubby and we need a new mattress but I don't wanna spend my Vegas trip money ALL on a mattress!
