Sexy Nerd Quote Of The Day

"I'm going to beat you with this frozen loaf."

Muttered after I finished the last slice of thawed bread and didn't take a loaf out of the freezer.

Yeah, he looks like a nice guy, but mess with his stockpile of bread and you'll incur the wrath of Sexy Nerd!

*I'm a bit worried that someone is going to read this and email me information on womens shelters. Really, he hadn't had his coffee yet and I laughed hysterically after hearing this. Sexy Nerd is not the type to "beat" anyone ;)

I Spent Over 6 Hours Working On This Post!

I'm so excited to see you! Today is my SITS Day and I was hoping you would be able to stop by. You do know what it means to have my SITS Day, don't you?
Paaaaar-tay Time!

Welcome to my LambAround party! Let me start out by introducing myself. I’m Lamb, a newlywed who has been known to place shirts into the washing machine one color and have them come out another. My hubby, Sexy Nerd, never, ever asks me to do his laundry. My blog provides an often humorous peek into my life, with focus on my cooking and decorating attempts. If you'd like to know more, please click here. If you enjoy stories about weddings gone wrong, I promise you won't be disappointed. Our male wedding officiant, Captain Howie, showed up late, wearing a skirt, and tried to make me climb a tree branch over a fishpond while in my wedding gown!

Oh, and there was a bit more to the stuffed animal in the washing machine story than the SITS site told you. Yes, I was worried about my lamb being washed. Guess what? It came out missing an ear! This is one of those "told 'ya so" stories to hold over my mom for life.

But enough about me. Can I offer you some munchies?

Cornbread muffin, anyone? They're filled with hot dogs and spinach and they taste much better than they sound (promise!)

I was just showing the other SITS ladies some photos from our last cruise. We've cruised Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean. We've seen some beautiful places, but of all my cruise photos, this one is my favorite. We returned to our room to find a cute towel-animal dog. Unfortunately, the room steward had forgotten to refill our fruit bowl. We wanted to get his attention in a way that would ensure he did not forget again.

On vacation, you need to make an extra effort to eat healthy!

Speaking of fruit, here's Kitchen Pig to offer you a drink.

He's not just any party animal. He's a party pig.

You'd love a tour of my home? Well certainly, my dear! Here are some Before and Afters. Sexy Nerd and I are remodelholics.

Well, technically I just supervise, but when you think about it, isn't that the most important part?

Guest Bathroom (complete with a magical mirror washing machine)

What fun is a Master Bedroom without a fireplace?

What say we just pretend that pesky little cord isn't there.

Built-In Bookcase, sans the books

Kitchen with 2 islands

Here's that second island. Sexy Nerd says that now we have an archipelago.

Our Living Room. Much cozier now!

More of the Living Room. Sexy Nerd added the closet and the accent wall.

Our pride and joy (and finally almost finished!) - our Master Bathroom

Master Bathroom Shower. No glass-scraping for us anymore!

We'd better skip the backyard. There's an unexplained fungus on the loose.

Our poor cherry tree never saw this coming!

It's so important to me to show you SITS gals a fun time today. I know, we'll have a contest!

How does a CSN Gift Certificate sound? You could use it to buy a flowering tea set (and, you know, invite your good pal Lamb over for tea).

Heck, you SITS bloggers are so fun. We may as well have two contests!

Fingers crossed that you win this assortment of spices!

Now, gather 'round everyone. The best part of any good party is the gossip. Did I ever tell you about the funny time that Sexy Nerd was was feeling a little bit "lovey"? He had candles lit and wine and suggested that I put on a sexy outfit. I changed into something skimpy, somewhat covered by an equally skimpy, see-through robe. Being Mr. Smooth Talker, he came up to me and said in his sexiest voice, "Oooh, you're wearing layers. I'll have to take them off. You're like an onion."

Oh yes, the stinkiest of all the foods. I'm a lucky girl!

Before I forget, I stayed up all night (literally) making a present for you. I hope you'll be able to use it.

Isn't it beautiful? I put even more effort into making the present than wrapping it. Click Here to see what I made for you!

I wonder whether I'll receive a hostess gift from any of the SITS girls today. I have these flowers, but Sexy Nerd wasn't very happy about me keeping them. I received them under very mysterious circumstances!

I never did find out who sent them. Sexy Nerd insisted there'd been a mix-up and that the florist must have redelivered an order he'd sent me back when we lived in our rental house. One problem though. The last time Sexy Nerd sent me flowers was looooong before our rental house days! OOPS.

At least I saved whoever it was some money by having the bear refunded.

Well, I've had a great time chatting with you today. I have to go, but before I do, let me introduce you to some of my other guests. I'm sure you're dying to mingle!

Extra Special Wednesday Edition for the SITS Bloggers!

This Linky is open to all posts that you are proud of. Did you recently post about a great decorating project, craft, or recipe? That's wonderful if you did, but just fine if you didn't. I want everyone to have a chance to mingle! I do ask that you link directly to your post and include a photo from that post, not just your blog logo, please. And, like always, the links you enter today will be back on Sunday (and the Sunday after that) so you can get any visitors who missed you the first time.

To up the fun factor, I will be selecting some of these links to feature this Sunday! You aren't required to post my button on your sidebar or with your linked post, but you'll need to have it somewhere if you want to be featured.

Oh, and of course, remember to comment on the Spices Giveaway after linking up here - this counts as a bonus entry!

*Linking to Between Naps on the Front Porch, which I love!

Digital Scrapbook Page of the Week

Here I am at my "2nd wedding", which was also to Sexy Nerd (the first was in Hawaii so there were a lot of people who couldn't attend AKA one just wasn't enough for my mom). Sometimes, my best friends, Sarah (L) and Jessica (R) can be a little...odd. I've known both of them since elementary school and our friendship even survived my 8th grade move from San Jose to Albuquerque.

How NOT to Make a Nascar Birthday Cake

When I first started this blog, my banner included the phrase "Patience Has No Place In My Kitchen". Allow to me demonstrate exactly what I meant.

And, yes, it has been 2 weeks since I posted the menu for Sexy Nerd's Birthday Dinner, which has come and gone. I have been a very busy bee!

Lazy too.

Not "Baaad" Sundays #3 (and some exhausted ramblings!)

This has been an exciting week! I have oodles of new followers, courtesy of my fabulous SPICES giveaway (not to mention scrumptious Ramen Noodle recipe). I have been insanely busy. According to my boss, I now work for her full time as an administrative assistant and part time as her website designer and SEO. This is great except that...how exactly should I put this...I have no idea how to be a website designer or SEO! *Sigh!* Without the handy Blogger tools or the Tripod Homepage Housekeeper, web design is kinda baffling. If anyone has any Filezilla/Notepad HTML tips, I'd love to hear them!

Okay, on to the fun! There are 2 things that makes my Linky special:

1. This Linky is open to all posts that you are proud of. Did you recently post about a great decorating project, craft, or recipe? That's wonderful if you did, but just fine if you didn't. I just want you to link to a post or posts you are proud of.

2. Do you ever find yourself trying not to duplicate posts on blog hops but aren't quite sure what you posted the previous weeks? Problem solved! The Linky from today will return next week, making it easy to see what you posted last time (and giving you a 2nd chance to visit any great posts you may have missed!)

I do ask that you link directly to your post and include a photo from that post, not just your blog logo. And if you could post my Not "Baaad" Sundays button or at least a link with your post, I'll love you forever! I know I can count on you to get the word out and help make Not "Baaad" Sundays a success! Thanks everyone!

Oh, and of course, remember to comment on the Spices Giveaway after linking up here - this counts as a bonus entry!

Link up, then get out there and mingle! Don't forget to tell people that you found them through LambAround (pretty please!) See you next Sunday :)

Divorce Smorce. I Guess We'll Stay Together

If you missed my previous post, titled Does This Mean We're Divorced, click here.

Sexy Nerd found a great deal on a Cobalt Chrome ring. We think it's a perfect replacement for his tungsten carbide wedding ring.

Old Ring (OH NO!)

Fabulous New Ring - oh yes, it's engraved!

Danni + Derek =  Dsquared

Our wedding date (which also happens to have been our 4 year anniversary)

A little reminder of the old ring

Our original wording idea was "Don't Drop Me!"

I hear you saying aaaaw! over there

YUCK! Sexy Nerd Has a New Hobby

Sexy Nerd has decided that he loves fishing. He gets up insanely early (4am!) on his days off and drives to the lake. He has been concerned about overdoing it. He doesn't want to turn into one of those husbands who is never around because he's always "gone fishing". Honestly, I don't mind one bit. He even caught a fish (which he said was too small, so he took a quick, humane photo of it, then threw it back - my kinda fisherman!)

There is, however, one thing about his new hobby that irks me. Actually, irks may be too light of a word. It grosses me out! I understand that the worms need to stay cool, I really do, but isn't there anywhere else they can go??

Lately, I have paid extra-close attention whenever taking a container of yogurt or butter out of the fridge!

Who's Up For Some Peacock Lovin'?

Sexy Nerd and I spent Friday morning at the Albuquerque Zoo* (you know, the one notorious for dismembered giraffes and break-ins by idiots). There was a small group of women with their young children walking ahead of us when we crossed paths with a few peacocks.

Hey baby.
One woman began to explain to her children that the male peacock is the one with the beautiful feathers, which he uses to attract a mate. Normal enough. The other woman, however, jumped in very enthusiastically and said:

"If I were a peacock, I'd just find that guy irresistible! Really, he's even turning me on as a human!"

At what age do kids begin to realize how embarrassing their parents are?

Lookin' sexy, Mr. Peacock!

*I should point out that, despite the negative links, Sexy Nerd and I love the zoo. We even joined their yearly pass program. You just can't beat the people-watching!

Sing A Ma Jigs. Really?

It's 3:49am and I can't sleep. What to do? Check out the Toys R Us Hot Toy List 2010, of course. What is the hot toy for 2010? Sadly, there are no Tamagotchis or Furbys this year. Instead, they predict that all the kids are going to want this:

Behold: The Sing A Ma Jig

I don't have kids so I know I'm not the ideal Sing A Ma Jig (Sing-a-ma-jig?) audience, and I probably shouldn't say this because it's a kid's toy, but really? Sing A Ma Jigs?

Sing A Ma Jigs. It looks like a blow up doll for stuffed animals.

Am I the only one who thinks this?

OH NO! Is Lamb Still Alive?

Sure, there have been many posts since I told you I may have tetanus (and, even worse, that I needed a SHOT!) but for all you know, those posts may have been pre-scheduled and my funeral was actually last week. Fear not, for I am alive! As of September 20th, at least.

I can hear your sighs of relief all across the internet.

I summoned my courage and went to Walgreens for a tetanus shot. Guess what? It was easy peasy! Heck, I even thought about asking for a flu shot while I was there. Ultimately, I decided against it because it would have been denied by my insurance (are you buying any of this?)

Like my BandAid? I am so tough.

Really though, it was easy, and it was completely worth it for the peace of mind. Even better, at my insistence, Sexy Nerd took me to McDonalds afterward!

Ice Cream AND McDoubles? Score!

What's wrong with Sexy Nerd, you ask? Did the vaccine send me into an arm-punching rage?

He was MAKING FUN OF ME! Punk.

So much chocolate fudge and only $1. Who are these people who don't like McDonalds??

Even all melty, it's beautimous!

I apologize for the sketchy photos. I've been nervous taking photos inside restaurants ever since I took this photo at a McDonalds in Paris:

It didn't even flash, but suddently these two women were shaking their fingers at me and scolding "No, no madmoiselle! No photo! Madmoiselle, no!" It's my pride and joy from the trip.

15 Minute Pizza Dough

Here is the link for the quickest, easiest pizza dough ever:
Clicky Here

We made this tonight. We added herbs to the dough, (parsley, oregano, garlic powder, basil, and onion salt,) and topped our pizza with frozen spinach, parmesan and mozzerella cheese, pepperoni, green onions, crushed red pepper, and garlic. We rolled out the dough as thin as possible and poked lots of tiny holes in it with a fork, to prevent air bubbles.

"No photo", you ask? Nope, the 6 serving pizza was gone before I could grab the camera.

Not "Baaad" Sundays - 2nd One EVER (omg!!)

Gosh darn it! Earlier, I scheduled this to post today at 5pm. I just got home from serving at my boss's Yom Kippur party and discovered, close to midnight, that it was marked as "draft". Aaargh! Anyhoo, here is my ever-so-slightly belated post:

Welcome back, my bloggy friends, to the second Not "Baaad" Sundays Linky Party! In case you've forgotten, (can't blame you - it's been a looooong week!) there are 2 things that makes my Linky special:

Doesn't this sound like fun? Of course, I do ask that you link directly to your post and include a photo from that post, not just your blog logo. And if you could post my Not "Baaad" Sundays button or at least a link with your post, I'll love you forever! I know I can count on you to get the word out and help make Not "Baaad" Sundays a success! Thanks so, so much everyone!

See you next Sunday!

Thank You, Thank You (SITS Repost)

Blogging hasn't seemed very worthwhile the last few days. After all, I thought, does anyone actually read this? I'm not writing this for money. There are zillions of better blogs out there. No one clicks my crappy ads or posts my button (it's too darn big!) or nominates me for a BlogHer award or to be featured on SITS or follows me, and why would they? LambAround sucks! There are more productive things I could be doing, like working on that book I've been trying to write since...well...too long ago to admit. My house is trashed, (Sexy Nerd's beer brewing doesn't help) my head is congested from allergies, (I hate New Mexico sooo much right now!) and we had an insanely busy/short-handed week at work (spring break at a pediatric dental office is not fun, especially when 2 of the 4 other employees call in because of horrible family emergencies). I was ready to let LambAround sit idle for a few days (weeks? months?). Then, I signed on and read this comment:

Amber said...
I have checked out your blog a few times before, but this is the post that has won me over and turned me into a button-displaying regular reader!
The anxiety, I haz it too.

Great post!
That is exactly what I needed to hear right now! It was even on a post that I almost didn't write - it seemed too personal, like people would be less likely to read my blog if I posted it. My mom used to encourage me to write, but was always appalled/embarrassed/furious whenever I wrote anything even remotely personal. I went back and read the comments that all you wonderful people have left. There were more than I expected! I decided to make a list of everyone who has commented.

If I could go back, I wouldn't have used such an inky pen. Or, crazy thought, since I planned to type the list, I would have just typed it to begin with!

So much ink! It's on the light switches! It's on the kitchen counter! It's EVERYWHERE!

So, to sum up the sappiest post you'll ever see me write, thank you so, so much to everyone who reads this blog. It may seem a little silly, but it means a lot to me. I'm not the social type by any stretch of the imagination. How I ended up with a job where I have to answer the phone every day blows my mind! I guess you could say LambAround is my way of interacting with others. I'd like to say an extra-special thank you to the people who have left comments, listed below (also, I will try to add a link to each persons site within the next few days!):

He's Not the Nurturing Type

Sexy Nerd and I have been together for more than 6 years, during which we have learned that each of us has our own wacky traits that irk the other (though I must insist through this post that mine are nothing compared to his!) One of my pet peeves is that Sexy Nerd is the kind of person who will go into the kitchen at lunch time, make himself a sandwich, and eat it in front of you, without the thought of asking if your would also like a sandwich ever crossing his mind. I've nicely (and maybe occasionally ever so slightly less than nicely) tried to train remind Sexy Nerd that this behavior borders on selfish cruel lazy being a huge, smelly jerk not very nice and he has slowly made improvements.

At least, I thought he had been improving.

Sexy Nerd announced today that he would be smoking a chicken for dinner. He brined it and put it inside the smoker (which I bought him, but that's a different story). The house was filled with the tasty smell of hickory for several hours. When it would be done smoking was a complete mystery (and source of a future "Sexy Nerd Quote Of The Day"). I made us a pitcher of iced tea and imagined us enjoying our chicken out on the patio, listening to the birds and soaking up the spring sunshine. Around 5:30pm, I was reading a magazine in my office and had just torn out an article on beer brewing to give to you know who, (as I am the nurturing type) when Sexy Nerd walked in. I told him that the chicken smells great and was wondering if it's almost done, to which he replied:

"Oh...it's been done."

In response to the puzzled look I must have had, he elaborated:

"It was good. If you want to go get some, I put the rest in the fridge."

Sexy Nerd cooking up a storm (with vodka?!) in an old rental house photo. It really doesn't matter what he was making, because no one else was going to get any.

Geez, I feel old!

The link above is really fun, but I don't have any photos to go with it. Rather than leave this post naked, here is a Pica butt!
